There was a customer in Kanpur who had waterproofing work on his terrace. We had done the entire waterproofing on his terrace and after doing that there was a leakage problem on the site. I had newly joined Asian Paints. When I visited the site there was a problem only with the room wall but I had convinced the customer to go for a damp-proofing product for the entire surface. I also did parapete cover on the walls. But as soon as it rained, the entire surface started leaking again and even more after the coating.
The customer was really stressed about it. He said, “Neeraj yeh aapne kya kiya hai?” At that time I even asked my TO to visit the site. When he visited the site he said that “Neeraj there is a problem with the ratio, and there is a fault in the application of the coat.” I confidently told him that, “No sir, there cannot be a fault in the application.” Because I had newly joined, I was very much interested to complete the first site and the entire process in front of my eyes. So I requested him to check if anything else can be wrong. He again visited the site, reapplied the coating. He told that this is a hydrostatic film and since there were pots on the customer’s terrace a crack developed in the coat. Hence there is leakage. Though there was no confirmed source to tell where the droplets were coming from.
The customer was not satisfied with the diagnosis given by TO. He said that ‘though TO just says leakage is because of hydraulic pressure, there is nothing like that!’ I told him there was no fault in the application of the product. There was a duct on his terrace and since day 1 I had told the customer to get it checked by a plumber. The client said that they had got it checked but I further pushed him to check with a more skilled plumber. When that happened the issue got resolved on the same day. The customer was very happy. He said that “Neeraj you are more technically sound than your TO!” Post that he even gave me few painting sites as referrals. I played a multidimensional role to solve this issue.
After this it I also got more such sites which TO sir couldn’t crack but I could. There was wiring work at the City club and TO had asked me to have a look. What actually happens is when we newly join our morale is very high. So I directly went to the sight on my own, took minimum support from my TO and was called frequently at the club to do some or other work.
