There was a site where the ECA was on leave due to some family reason. It was a big site. A duplex. We were doing HealthShield and Nilaya there [these are premium Asian Paints products].
So, the dealer and I had a good bonding. The dealer stated that you come and do the site measurements. As the site is crucial, there is an Architect there too.
So, I went at night with the contractor and took measurements of the painting surface and of the wallpaper area. The customer was converted.
Here the customer was looking for RoyalePlay and stencil as wall fashion. When we went there, we carried all our catalogues. We went to their home and showed them all the designs. Me and the contractor. “Ek ek designs bataye. Unko pasand aagaya”. So, they got converted [to more expensive products].
I did it on behalf of the consultant. Because generally the consultancy part is done by the dealer’s color consultant. The dealer told me the ECA was on leave. The site was a big one, so the dealer requested me to come and help him. So, as I have a relationship with him. I did it.
Also, at that time I was new. I did not know how to take wallpaper measurements properly and perfectly at that time. There were 15 rolls being used in the customer’s house. So, I took measurements with the contractor using tape and did running measurements. [Rolls need to be measured as per area covered by running length as the width is fixed]. I learned this. In the future, if there is a big site, we can do it this way. Because generally our ECA, CCA have LDM [laser distance meter].
