Making the best of what you have, creating an Aha! for the customer

In one of my sites, some oil paint was remaining. And there were some flowerpot stands in the balcony of their house. So, I had briefed the contractor earlier about the extra paint. The contractor asked the customer if he wanted the painters to paint the stands. He specified that this will not cost the customer any extra amount. That the contractor is doing this from his side. 

The customer was very happy and said sure please do it. And when I visited the site, the customer appreciated the labour. He said the painters were very nice and professional. They did not allow the paint to go waste and used it to paint. The flowerpot stands. So, this became a plus point for me. 

So, if you. Feed the behaviour of the customer to the contractor before he deploys his people on the site it creates an impact and issues get sorted.
